Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg RN

Opportunity Description

A great hospital outside Newnan, GA has partnered with HumanEdge Allied Health to hire a Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg RN for a 13-week contract. This is a full-time job working 40 hours per week. Day shift and night shift schedules are available. 

The ideal Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg RN will be a local or travel nurse with GA or Compact RN certification in hand, at least two years of experience working on a Med-Surg unit, and a passion for providing outstanding care to every patient.  

Job Duties

The Med-Surg RN provides care for patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment,  planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The Med-Surge RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Due to the broad range of medical conditions, Med-Surge RNs will encounter, they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.

  • Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and  evaluate patient care plans
  • Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with  the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse
  • Educates patients on surgical procedures
  • Records patients’ medical information and vital signs
  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records  electronic displays
  • Initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology
  • Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre-and post-surgery patients
  • Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by the physician. Teaches patients and  significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home  care needs
  • Changes dressings, inserts catheters, starts IVs
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of the patient
  • Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
  • Participates in discharge planning.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • RN licensure 
  • Minimum of one year of Med-Surge Department experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • BLS and ACLS
