The Staff Pharmacist in Edison, New Jersey, holds a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications in adherence to all relevant regulations and standards. This position encompasses various responsibilities, including medication order review, patient therapy monitoring, preparation of admixtures, and oversight of pharmacy activities.
Compliance: Adhere rigorously to state and federal regulations and Medical Center policies concerning drug dispensing. Ensure proper handling, security, and documentation of all drug products, including controlled substances and investigational drugs.
Medication Order Review: Review and dispense medication orders, addressing any potential issues or discrepancies promptly.
Patient Therapy Monitoring: Monitor patient drug therapy regimens to identify and address allergies, drug interactions, and potential adverse reactions.
Admixture Preparation: Prepare admixtures using aseptic techniques, including IV solutions, TPN, and chemotherapy, ensuring utmost safety and accuracy.
Unit Inspection: Conduct inspections of assigned units to maintain proper storage and maintenance of medication supplies, including emergency drug stocks.
Personnel Oversight: Supervise ancillary personnel such as Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants/Couriers to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to protocols.
Safe Medication Practices: Apply principles of safe medication practice as per departmental and organizational policies, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting a minimum of 10 lbs., pushing and pulling at least 40 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 4 hours daily.
Patient-Centric Care: Identify and address the specific needs of the patient population served, including considerations of age, culture, language, and disabilities. Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers to provide tailored care.

Experience & Skills Required
1-2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy settings.
Familiarity with unit dose dispensing, aseptic technique principles, and relevant computer applications.
